Daytime Running Lights

Hi guys, this is my first post and I had a question regarding DRL's.
I live in Canada where DRL's are mandatory and just recently came to purchase a 2001 S430. The vehicle has already had it's instrument cluster changed under recall.

Currently with the light switch set on "0" and car in Drive the headlights do not turn on. My 2000 C280 Sport with light switch set to "0" and car in Drive the headlights come on instantly. My question is should the S430's lights come on when I switch the car into Drive? Is this something that the dealer needs to program? I searched through the settings in the HUD and there is no option for DRL's there.

Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.

Go into your menu setting (the one that only allows you to change while car is stopped) and scroll through the menu. You will see where you can set your headlights at Manual, Constant or Auto. You must didn't read your manual.

As a matter of fact after reading the manual I scrolled through the setting to try and find it. Unfortunatly to my dismay the option was not available. I have options for Locator light duration...etc. That's why I was wondering if it was a hidden option that only the dealer would be able to change. Since its a mandatory requirement here in Canada I just thought they might have removed it as an option in our menu's.

If your cluster was changed, you need to talk to whoever changed it. They may not have activated the option.

Will do thanks. I guess the dealer just forgot to activate it.

EDIT: Indeed the dealer needed to change the setting. DRL's are now in full effect! Thanks guys
