Wooden shifter knob
Is anyone aware if there is a wooden shifter knob available for a 2001 S430. Currently, I have the stock leather one, but would love to be able to change it to a wooden one.
Any help on cost and where to get one would be appreciated.

But - that means you can get one from your dealer. That is where I purchased mine.
Cheers.

I phoned the dealer an they told me that there are three different types of wood and that the price varies from $360-$380 CDN. Is this right? Sounds like alot more than just a knob.

Ok, I have been able to find some suppliers of shift knobs (no thanks to the search). Prices range from $80 - $150 USD. Chucky what did you pay for yours if you don't mind me asking?
My next question is how do you replace the knob? I have looked at my knob and tried to unscrew the chrome bezel but it won't budge. Any ideas? Keep in mind this is a 2001 S430.
Thanks in advance.

Wooden shifter knob
Hi Capt, to remove, looking from the top, turn bottom piece counter clockwise as far as it would go (about 1/4 turn). You can use your fingers, tools are not necessary. Then with even pressure, lift up on the knob. That simple.
replace my leather knob with a wooden Advante with a small chrome trim. I made a huge difference, matching my wood dash trim. It looked so good, I replaced the steering wheel with same trim wooden/leather steering wheel. Sorry, I don't remember where I purchased the wooden knob, but it was a great price, $50-$60 in the spring of 2006. If I remember, I will write you.
Good luck!

Do these instructions apply to knobs with the keyless GO button on them? Is there a wire/connector to worry about?
Thanks!

wooden shifter knobs are a great way to liven up the interior of your benz, they can be found in performance product magazine ( a do it all shop for authentic mb parts and accessorys ) on page33 there is a burlwood knob for 89 bucks and a zebrano wooden knob for79 bucks, if you do not have access to this mag, call direct 18002431220, and you can order direct from them, or have them send you a mag, you will love all the stuff they have. take care.

Is this the company you ordered you items from? http://www.performanceproducts4benz.com/default.aspx
I'm not seeing any for under $100 here unless you have keyless go.
