2000 S500 will not start

Dear Member,
Hello everyone , I am new to this forum. I bought a 2000 S500 benz about two weeks ago as a gift to my wife. Chrismass morning ,my wife drove the car to the end of the driveway, and after couple hours the car did not start at all.All the light on the dash are on . I tried to start it for two days with no use. This evening i tried again and still no luck. I taped my hand on the dash out of frustration yhen the car started. My wife drove it for couple of miles and the said the the car seems to be running with brakes on, When idrove it the car ran on the first gear only and seemed to be running witth the emergency brakes on. An hour later the car would not start again. When it started earlier the check engine light was on and the meaasage said somthing about BAS and the abs light is on .What the hell is going on .
Any suggestion. I took my 600 sel to the dealer one time to repair a switch and after 10 days they did not fix it and told me that they need to keep it over the weekend. Next mormning they called me and said that someone broke into my car and caused about $ 15,000.00 of damages. They refused to fixe it. So you see. Anuy idea anyone.
Thanks

how many miles are on the s500? did u buy it from a dealer? it could . and when you said it feels like its in first gear. make sure that when you put the car in drive look on your engine cluster and on the bottom right side in the same area where the digital clock is.... it will say the first letter of the gear (for example P park N nuetral and D for D drive). when the car shifts into drive besure that you dont move the gear to the left. when you move it to the left it changes gears from 4 to 1 (it starts out at highest gear) so left to go down in gears and right to go up. make sure it wasnt in first gear. right where it says D if its in a shiftronic there will be number of the gear its in.( TO GET OUT OF SHIFTTRONIC MODE MOVE GEAR TO THE RIGHT UNTILL ON YOU SAY IT SAYS D)when you were driving was the rpm was red linning or above 4 if it was then chances are it was in semi manual mode(Shifttronic). with the cars computer system malfunction like that it could be a low battery. definitly have a dealer look at it though.

The same thing. Changed the battery in the key and checked the car battery inwhich is good. No cranck no turn over .It is crazy. If i take it to the dealer they will charge me arm and a leg to tell me what is wrong.I guess I have to.
Thanks

youve only had it less than a month, take it back to who you bought it from.
