For those that wonder how to get your nav to track your position while on a map of current location, here's what to do. "Some of you already know this."
While on the initial nav screen, click on INFO at the bottom left, then click on LOCATION MAP and the map pulls up that will track as you move. If you locate a map of current location it will not track as you move. It freezes when the arrow reaches the end of the screen. This applies to the CD based nav systems and not the DVD based.

I didn't have to do that on my 2001. It never stopped at the edge of the current screen. Is yours a 2000? Perhaps they can flash the COMAND. I don't think you should need to go through so many steps to have the map view work like it's supposed to.

It's only four months since I traded in the 2001, but I guess my memory isn't what it used to be. I misspoke. The CD-based COMAND has no MAP button, so you go NAVI then bring the map up from the INFO menu. I only did it everyday for like four years. Sorry for the confusion.
