Factory Exhaust Hitting ? (S600)
Driving my "new to me" 03 S600, I've noticed under heavy throttle at all speeds the exhaust seems to be hitting around the resonator under the passenger side rear footwell.
Is this more likely to be a motor mount that is weak? I dont really feel any excessive body motion or feeling from the front of the car to indicate such, but a factory exhaust hitting the body is kind of weird to me !
For the most part the car is superb otherwise, I mounted a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE01R's on the stock wheels and man what a difference. Love that tire. The car has TRACTION now and handles a great deal better.

Are you saying that you hear the exhaust hitting the bottom side of the car, or are you talking about the exhaust maybe hitting something under the car like a heatshield or something?
Other than that, it is always possible that one of the rear catalysts has come apart and has moved a chunk of itself into the resonator.

Yes, the exhaust is actually hitting the car. Heavily when the car is cold.
I dont see anything wrong, everything feels secure, perhaps I have a weak motor mount.

Just a guess but take a look at the exhaust hangers on that side. MB does a great job of engineering the exhaust support system. You may have a broken or bent hanger that is allowing the movement...it might even be a missing isolation bushing in one of the hangers. I think if the movement was due to a motor or transmission mount the noise would be closer to the front. Good luck.
