Rear airmatic - can it go out?

Rear airmatic - can it go out?
I had my front struts repaired a few years back, so I'm not worrying about it at all.
Tonight, on the drive home, as I approached a bridge (the bridge was leveled higher than normal ground, so all cars that enter the bridge "bounce" up and down a bit), I hear and fairly loud rubbing sound. I immediately realized my rear tires rubbed against my fenders a bit. I continued home and as I exited the car, I noticed my rear was low, lower than normal. Thinking it was the sensor rod that was loose, I quickly jacked the car up and looked at the sensor and tried to wiggle it with my fingers. Nope, it was firmly tightened.
So my question is, can the rear leak? Could it be related to the relay? Are there separate relays for front and rear?
I have my fingers crossed that the rear won't squat on me tomorrow morning.
