Reprogramming Smart Key
Hello All,
I just bought a spare Smart Key off eBay and am trying to get it reprogrammed for my 2000 S430. My local dealer tells me it can't be done.
I do not believe this. Have any of you got this done at your dealer. If so, can you please pass on the dealership info so I can contact them.
Also, if there is a way for me to do it myself, that would be super... thanks

Do a search on this forum. This has been covered many times. Unless they key is 'virgin' and never has been programmed you can not program it.

Did you get a smaller SmartKey for your 2000 S-class?
I don't know if year 2000 S-class can use the newer smaller smart key, do anyone know the answer if 2001 onwards smaller smart key can be used in 2000 S-class???

the smart keys has to coded for vin #, you will not be able to reprogram the keys especially the ones you buy form ebay. there are total of 7 keys for each car, if you happen to lose all 7 keys, you will need to buy a new ignition set, no way around it. i woudn't waste your money on the ebay keys.
