2003 S600
im readin the new Autocar issue (my mom brought it for me from London) and it has some stats on the new S600:
493 bhp
590 lb ft.
0-125mph : 15.8 sec (faster than a 911 turbo and competetive with a Ferrari 575M)
and get ready for this!
top speed: 191 mph (derestricted)!!!!!

Now imagine CL600 with over 100 kgs less.Renntech will have a chip in December that will match it with Maybach:550hp and 664lbs of torque!!

Andrew Eclipse:Renntech has a chip for SL55(CL55) boosting the hp to 520,don't know the torque ,and raising top speed to 175mph.All these cars are too heavy for over 180 mph.

Yes it does but it has to be proven,which is almost impossible and even then it affects only the part directly connected with the chip.
I've had chips installed in all my cars since 1989 and never had any problems.

dont they just see the new chip visually or on the computer when checking the car out for problems. If they know, dont they attribute almost every problem to the installlation of a after market product, if not why wouldn`t every one get a new chip

Boltonblue:We were talking about tire limitations ,not max speed possible.The S600 or Cl600 or CL55 would easily reach 190mph,but that would be very risky since there are no tires rated for those speeds ,able to handle that much weight.

I would have to question those stats as while I have never timed my car, not sure if it is that quick. It is a sluggish start unless you gear down to first and toy with the shift, which is recomended if you are at a light and expect to blow away the honda sitting next to you.
Now the 03, that may be a different story...

Hmm, weird, even with all that torque, 0-124 times are STILL slower than that of the SL55 AMG.
And about the top speed issue, MB engineers swore they've seen 208 mph. They were probably using slicks.
