Where is the diagnostic menu?
I just migrated here from the w203 board having just traded my 2002 w203 for a 2002 w220.
What I'd like to know is how I can get in to the diagnostic menu on the dash... or does it even exist? You know, the one where you can see the engine oil level, enable dyno mode etc.
Searching for "diagnostic menu" gives me nothin under w220.

Just read the manual, there are many, many different menus for all kinds of information, too much to post them here

Hold down the button marked "Rest" on the climate control. You can scroll through the different screens by using the temp up/down switch
There is a diagnostic menu there, though you will have to guess what all the numbers mean. Some of them are obvious eg engine revs etc.

On your steering buttons on left side, yoiu have a manu button that will get you there. When your cluster displays the mileage, just push the up arrow and keep going untill you find what you want.

thanks for the quick replies, however I'm talking about the diag. menu on the dash which is normally hidden until a certain sequence of buttons are pressed, like 3 quick presses of the RESET button then the menu down for the 2003 w203.
i am talking my car to get dyno'ed and will need to activate the Dynamometer mode

on my '03 W220 S600 to get to dyno mode you must depress the reset button three times with the key in position 1 with the engine not running. Then, scroll through the menu until the dyno mode screen appears then activate dyno mode "on" then start the car and all the the electronic nannys will be deactivated. It worked exactly the same on my W211 '04 E55. Do a search on the W211 forum for "dyno mode" and you will find the same info.

2004 S430 4matic
This Worked for ME
I put the key in the 1st position and hit the reset button 3 times within about 2 seconds. My car went into the diagnostics menu. I have a 2004 S430.

pressing the reset button 3 times and accessing dyno mode only works on 03- cars. i dont think the pre-facelift version have the dyno mode.

For the W220 and W215:
Make sure your MFD is displaying the MILES screen.
Turn Key to OFF
Turn Key to ON
Press the R button (right side of cluster) three times while the SRS light is on:
If you pressed the reset button 3 times while the SRS light is on and you were on the MILES screen, your display will display your voltage:
You can scroll through the various screens using the page up / page down controls on the left side of the steering wheel:
You'll see the car model, engine type, oil level (when running), software versions, VIN # and a bunch of other information:
Last page is the ESP DYNAMOMETER TEST screen:
Using the volume +/- controls on the right side of the steering wheel select ON
Start the car and several malfunctions will display since this will disable ESP, ABS, BAS, BPV and several other electronic controls in the car.
When you are done with dyno mode you MUST disable it... otherwise it will always be in dyno mode. Go to the ESP DYNAMOMETER menu and select W. KL15 OFF and then start the car.
Make sure your MFD is displaying the MILES screen.
