Is there a such thing as a dead reliable current German car? Anyone with VW experiences?

Ebolick, I would x-out the Porsche, I had a 1985 930. It was a great car way back when, but good luck finding a low mileage one now. I also had a 996 platform 911. Just as many problems if not more than the w220. The best cars I have owned bar none were a 1994 Lexus sc400 and a 2002 LS430. I got bored with the LS and bought the S500. The S500 is more fun, but I had zero problems with either Lexus. Gas and oil, that was all I bought. The new body LS is a beautiful car. Unless the W221 proves to be a better car than the w220, Lexus here I come. Best of luck in your new purchase.

2000 S430, 1999 E 320, 2 K5 blazers,
Thanks everyone for the great info, this really does help weigh in my decision, I have a SUV also, so for me the size is no longer a issue. The reason I am looking at the 911, (2005’ish) is that I love the way they look, and I have a few friends that swear by them. Also I will not be using this as an everyday drive like I have done with my benzs.

I only wish that German car were as dependable as Lexus, One can dream lol

if you do get a non-turbo 996, be sure to have a highly trained tech inspect the RMS. They are notorious for failing & leaking oil. $$$$

also, be sure to get an extended warranty. if you think MB charges a lot, you'll cry w/ Porsche bills.

NO.

i think germans are focusing too much on latest gadgets & electronics and dissing the good ol' craftsmanship. instead of perfecting old technology, germans keep coming up with new ones that are horribly unreliable.
