fiber optic cable/changer install question

I located the power cable, but the only fiber optic cable seems to be running from a large black box 5"x10" on the outer side of the amp near the quarter panel and leads to a small box 4" x 6" on the rear tail end of the amp.

do i disconnect this cable at one of these points to attach to the cd changer or get another new cable?

if a new cable, one side goes to the cd changer, i do not see where the other side of the cable would go?

any help is appreciated.

thanks

things with and without wheels
On my car the fiber optic cable was tucked in the harness and both ends were connected to complete the loop. When I installed my changer it became part of the loop using that part of the cable.

This is the typical setup of the system. It's similar in the S class. There is a voice module, there's tele aid and more. If you are not sure of what you are doing, I would suggest you don't mess with it. You can easily cause $8000 damage.

drsaab, I have no idea which car you're addressing - we can guess it's a W220, since you're on this forum. Model year and type, as well as your location would be helpful - but isn't obvious from your profile or a quick look at your prior posts.

You can download a phone bulletin for 2000-2005 U.S. specification models at http://home.earthlink.net/~phdwebsit..._bulletins.htm. It is likely that some '06 models are the same as the '05 models, but this may not be uniformly true.

The phone bulletins have diagrams, photos, and installation instructions for CD changers, voice control modules, and phone systems. Locations of spare fiber optic and electrical connections differ by year and model, and are addressed in the bulletins. The bulletins may not be accurate for European or Asian specification models.

So, how's my home town doing? I'll be up there early in July for a high school reunion (the number of which is entirely too large).

Hope the phone bulletin answered your question.
