Its not that bad. The same as doing a front rotor just the extra step of removing the hub.The Hub includes the bearings and is about $180 a side from OEM parts.

Just curious, How did you, or how do you know that you blew the front bearings? they are pretty bulletproof unless you own a Ford pick-up.

THanks for the information, my center cap on my rim blew off and there was metal shavings, the tow truck driver and two dealer both said it was the bearings, but one quote was 1100 installed that was for the "knuckle" as he put it and for the bearings it would be a few hundred. i think i need to shop around. A friend said Good year specializes in bearing and they would be allot cheaper.

Maybe you misunderstood my suggestion.

Have a look at http://www.oempartsdirect.com/. that's where I got the price I quoted you. that was for the entire hub and I believe it comes with bearings as there was no separate listing for bearings...

Also just a note... IF the center cap of your rim comes off you will not see bearing shavings from you hub because the hub has a cap on it. IF the cap is missing from the hub, then that would explain why it was ruined because the grease would have escaped causing bearing or hub damage.

If the hub still has the cap in place, then you should look before you assume you have bad bearings. Normally you know if you have a bad bearing because of wheel shimmy, noise when turning, etc.. But like I said if the cap is gone, then you are probably correct at assuming a bad bearing.

thanks again for clearing that up. but yes both caps popped off, i took the tire off and i can see the bearings and there are worn out, or should i say messed up. but i was looking for any other damage and could not find anything. I hope i can just buy the bearings and replace them. since my car is getting old i want to start doing most of the work myself. ill check the dealer tomorrow for the bearings if not i may have to replace the hub. I hope it is easy lol or ill have to tow it to the shop. In anycase thanks for the info

Don;t forget to replace the caps after you do the repairs or you will lose the grease again...
