I have a 1999 S500 and about a week ago the soft close door mechanism failed to work. I checked the obvious fuse in the trunk, and it is good, as are the other electrical functions on that fuse. Any other suggestions other than taking it in?

It sounds like a vacume pump problem.

 

i had this same problem with mine a few months ago.

one possibility is the battery having a lack of charge.
