Unhappy HELP: S430 2K High RPM at Low Speeds

got a s430 2000 w/99k;sits on 20in wheels;today, car buckled a little while taking an entry ramp onto the highway; once on highway, noticed rpm was at 5000 while speed was only 60mph; no malfunction message from car;engine seemed to be runnin fine;slowed down and then accelerated again with same behavior; a few seconds of this then made me pull over and move the shift from drive to park then back to drive again; mph to rpm now seemed okay; i think at 60 mph, i was seeing 2500 rpm...car did this until arrival home.

now this is a head-scratcher....thinkin some sensor issue or major tranmission problem; hope it's not the latter.

any feedback on this would be appreciated...thanks!

are you suggesting the Speedometer is bugged? showing innacurate details?

overall how was the engine running?

YOu sure you didn't inadvertently move the shifter to a lower gear by mistake? it would have reset when you put it in park. I've done it many times. it is very tempting to rest your hand on that stick but you can easily change gears by moving it to the left just a touch. I've done it sitting at a stop light and not noticed it till I took off.

Sounds like that's all that happened...

Your transmission is slipping. It usually means a new transmission.

i think you are right bro...saw +/- on drive gear and how easily it is to unknowingly shift with hand resting on it...just got the car a few months ago, and very clueless...had an acura legend prior to this....thanks for the input.
