The wooden cup holder lid on my '03 S500 won't click shut.
Does anyone know if the mechanism which keeps the lid closed is part of the cup holder itself? Does the lid have it's own mechanism, separate from the cup holder mechanics? Anyone experienced this, how did you solve it?

I once spilled some peanuts into the cup holder, and they settled in the bottom. They kept the cup holder up just high enough that it kept the cover from latching.

Try opening the cup holder and seeing if anything is under the mechanism that shouldn't be there.

Yes you just need to clean up. Its tuff but you have to do it.
