Question Programming Remote key needed?

My remote key batteries seem to be going out and so I called the dealer they said I might need to reprogram the key after I change the battery. Is that true? I dont want to go buy the batteries then my car doesnt respond to the key and then I'm stuck at walgreens or something.
And I dont have my manual on me for me the check this out right now

Don't panic. Resynchronizing consists of putting the key, with new batteries, in the starter switch. Either don't lock your car at Walgreens, or if you do, just use the mechanical key to unlock the car if the remote won't open the doors. Then insert the key in the switch. The handshake is between the electronic starter switch computer and the key.

BTW, it's safer to just not lock the car at Walgreens. That way you won't involve the anti-theft system.

The batteries are CR2025.

Oh ya, I was just looking at the key, how do I get to the battery? I'm sure it involves taking the out of the remote start then what?

1) Remove the mechanical key (slide the little knurled gray button towards the center and then pull out the mechanical key).
2) Use the business end of the mechanical key to slide a little gray block that you just exposed towards the center. The central portion of the key will release and move out a fraction of an inch.
3) Pull out the central portion from the key body with your fingernail.
4)The two batteries are held in with a retainer that runs crossways across them. The retainer is held in by a little tab. Use a paperclip to compress the tab and the retainer will lift free, allowing you to replace the batteries. Same position of course and clean them of fingerprints with a clean cloth before inserting them, handling them by the cloth.
5)Clip the retainer back and reinsert the central portion into the key. Reinsert the mechanical key.

200 bucks for a new key! The batteries wouldn't come out and the stealership said I needed a new key because the battery slit was jammed! But at least they gave me the updated chrome style remote key.
