Car lowers when shut off

I know this might be an old question. But, when I shut off my 2002 S430 the front end hiss's and lowers about an inch. Went to the dealer and asked on other web sites and they say this is normal. What is the real story?

I get now error codes and the car runs fine and level. There is no hissing or leak noise when the car is running and the air compressor is not constantly running when teh car is on. Also checked the front strut tops, no leaks or cracks.

It just sounds like when you turn the car off it releases the air preasure form the system.

Thanks

My 2002 s500 does the same thing. I asked the dealer and was told it was normal. It sounds like a quick pressure release and the car lowers in the front. Sometimes I notice when I unlock the car it does the same thing. I have been scratching my head as to why Mercedes would have the airmatic system release air at all, unless the car is sitting to high? Any input from you guys would be helpful if this is not normal.

This is normal, my car was doing the same thing 6 years ago, and still doing it today.

I thought I bought a lemon when I first noticed the same sound. But I called the stealership and they said it was normal.

My does the same but over 24-48 hours setting (1/2 lower - 1 lower"). As soon as I start the engine again, it goes back up.
