Whats behind the glove compartment ??

Hello, I wish to fit an aftermarket dvd player into my s500 w220 2001, There is some space in the passenger side glove compartment, but not quite enough !! Does anyone know whats behind the glove compartment ?? As I was hoping there would be some spare space to remove / cut out the original backwall of the glove compartment and slide it in and connect it from the rear, many thanks Ash

i dunno but i hope it's important cause the glove box just seems way too small for a car this size :p

The tube that services the AC through the door is right behind the glove box. That same space has other electronics as well.

Hi ashflash
I have already installed a dvd player in my glovebox and I also had to cut a small amount of the back out in order to fit it. You can remove the glovebox quite easily by lifting the 2 rubber covers over the bottom screws and then with a small stubby cross point screwdriver remove the 2 lower and 2 upper screws. The box will then slide out with a little pulling and pushing. Disconnect the release cable and light wiring on top of the box and it should then be free to remove altogether. You should then be able to judge if you have enough clearance between the back of the box and the heater/ac filter housing.

Luckily the wires are usually long enough to let you move the glove box out of the way to change the filters without disconnecting the player.
