Same problem on my 2002 C320. Replaced the Throttle Pedal Assembly ($156 at ecstuning.com) and the problem is fixed. Thanks to this forum post!

Same problem I'm stumped

Hey all, if anyone ha some advice I'd appreciate it. Same issues from cold start poor low idling once warmed and screw with revving it up in mornings to be able to back up drive way it's still having issues after warmed up if I give her too much gas sometimes and goes outta gear. I have replaced pedal 3 x all from junk yards tho, put new 02 sensors on it and coil packs. It is still showing up as tps in foot pedal, I m not sure it will help but am going to put new throttle body and mass airflow bc have found both for $80 or should I just get new pedal I mean hell all four can't have been bad?

id get new pedal since that's what you've changed 3 times already with used ones, then clean the maf and throttle body with cleaner, clean those first and see if you have any change. but most probably its the peddle.

The odds of getting four faulty pedals in a row are pretty high. I would start checking for a broken wire or faulty connection in that circuit.

I faced this problem with my S500 2003 and I fix that. After I changed the paddle with air mass, the check engine come again with the same problem after 2 month. That was when the ESP was off and on slip road drifting the error came on screen ESP malfunction and the paddle not responding at all. After I restart the car, the check engine light come again with no malfunction and the problem came again. Any idea or solution of this nightmare.

wheel speed sensor is bad and throwing the eps code. but check the connections for the strut behind the front wheels, might be loose.

HI EVERYONE! MY FIRST TIME TO POST SO PLEASE BEAR WITH ME. I HAVE AN '01 CLK320 AND INTERMITTENTLY HAVING AN ACCELERATION PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD, THE ESP LIGHT WOULD TURN ON I WILL LOOSE ACCELERATION. MEANING THE GAS PEDAL DOESN'T RESPOND AT ALL. THEN WHEN I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND RE-START THE CAR IT WILL BE FINE AND THE ESP LIGHT IS OFF TOO. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING MORE OFTEN EVERY DAY. SO PLEASE I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE ANY IDEA ON WOULD BE CAUSING THIS PROBLEM! THANK YOU!

Turned out it was the CPS (crankshaft position sensor). Not sure if the CLK is the same or not though. If you have an OBDII reader, you can read the code. I would also suggest re posting a new thread to the CLK forum, which is here:

I wish I had found this place sooner I'm having the same problem

Hello all,
very new to posting here I've been reading a while. I have a CL K 55 AMG 02. I have the same lack of acceleration problem as discussed here. I've had the vehicle at the American service center in Arlington Virginia three times and they have changed the throttle position sensor supposedly twice. And supposedly cleaned the throttle body housing. Even though they can't get it to duplicate the problem. After driving the car three days I have experienced the same loss of acceleration has described here I can shut the carl off and started it back up and it's fine for a few hours to a few days perhaps but then it happens again. I would like to try the accelerator pedal fix but I'm having trouble locating a place that has the 02 CL K 55 AMG accelerator pedal. would appreciate being pointed in the right direction to fix this vehicle. also is there anything other than the accelerator pedal assembly that needs to be purchased to complete this fix or does everything come in the same box.
thank you

Thank you for mentioning us Tusabes!

At the moment we only carry the accelerator pedal sensor. If you would like I could see if we can source the assembly for you.

Here is the link for it:
(Accelerator Pedal Sensor)
AutohausAZ - Accelerator pedal sensor

Disclaimer: Make sure to verify the year and model of the vehicle to insure fitment.

Will it be possible to have the same problem only at high rev ? (after 5000rpm), lack of power. My IAT is good, MAP also and no leak , no fuel issue and CPS already changed.

My throttle body has been already changed without any effect but not the pedal assembly...

I have no code on my Dashboard I can only see the air mass volume decreasing after this rev. So, I could be a pedal assembly sensor issue...

Regards,
Julio

Accelerator Issue

Everyone,

I purchased the replacement part, but it is not intuitive as to how I'm supposed to remove the bad part. Can someone share a document or video?

Thanks for your help!

S500 Loses power

I have a 2001 S500 that only seems to lose power at freeway speeds while performing right hand turns only? I get the yellow caution light flashing then when I straighten the vehicle out it all goes away. If I'm in cruise control and make a slight right turn cruise control automatically turns off yellow caution light flashes and continues to be intermittent power until I straighten out again, again this is only on right and turns.
Any help would be extremely appreciative

I have had the pedal sensor problem twice now in a 2001 S500 I've owned for as many weeks. It became an issue for me both times after I used a USB adapter in the cig lighter to charge an IPhone. First time, replaced the pedal ***'y. Now it happened again. Nothing else points to this fault than the use of the lighter socket in this way (did it today for the first time since before replacing the pedal last week).

I may just be superstitious here but going forward (after the second replacement of the pedal) I won't be using the lighter socket anymore to charge the phone!
