Transmission Issue Maybe?

2002 S430 22k miles. Car started to feel like it kicked when changing gears, not when beating on car just normal acceleration 2000 to 2200 rpm at shift point. Brought car to dealer and they said there was a slight leak at where the wire harness enters the transmission. They replaced seal and added fluid. Car still feels like it has a very slight double shift as well as you feel the down shift when you slow down. If I put car into auto stick adn shift myself 90% of the kick you feel during shifting goes away.

My wife thinks I am over sensitive and she does not feel anything when she drives the car or is a passanger.

I just think that you shouldn't feel these cars shift when they change gears.

Any input would be great as far as how their car feels when it shifts as well as any common tranny issues.

Car is still under CPO until end of Jan 08 and 100K miles. Want to make sure all is right before warranty runs out.

Thanks.

Keep reporting the problem; get it on record before your warranty expires.

You may have to have your shift controller replaced; the adaptive transmission function zeroed out and reset; or a re-flash of your firmware.

After registering the problem, if you feel ambitious, you could try resetting the adaptive shift (learning) feature. See http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...smission+reset, http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w208...procedure.html, and if you use the ECU reset procedure, see http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...ml#post2216730. If you have an Audio 10, 30, 50, or other radio besides COMAND, be sure you have your radio code before disconnecting the battery (I know; you have COMAND - it has no radio code - but owners of other models occasionally read this forum as well).

Enterprise rent-a-car!!!
Take it back to the dealer, there are a lot of updated parts for that transmission, including springs, clutches and software. Get them all updated and the problem should be cured. It will take some persistence on your part to get the dealer to tear down the trans.

Went back to dealer went for a ride with the shop foreman. Both I and he drove the car, I might be crazy but I can feel when the car shifts gears. The foreman says it is shifting fine and normal. My question to the guys on the forum is:

Do you feel your car change gears? ( its not alot but you do feel it)

As far as I can remember the gear shift was un-noticable prior to the dealer finding the leak at where the wires enter the tranmission and replaced a gromut adn added tranny fluid.

Am I being over picky? Maybe you do feel a slight change when the gears shift. Any thoughts?

Thanks.
