Help car wont start
Hi folks
I have a 2000 s500 and the other day I jumped in the car and went to start it and only got half a crank. Tried it again same thing. Tried it for the tenth time and it started.
played with it over the day and only started three times out of 20
what could it be????
my mechanic said it could be the key itself and needs top be replaced?
please help

Could be a number of things, impossible to tell.
Bad ground
Bad Key
Bad alternator
Other electrical issue....
Any codes showing up?
Dealer is probably going to need to take a look at it.....

If it only got half a crank, did you think about replacing the battery? I'd replace the battery or at least jump it and see if the car starts better.
Bad spot on starter?

i was thinking the same thing about teh battery issue with the half crank, but since you stated that the car did start 3 out of 20 times trying, im guessing its a starter problem. get your starter checked out, you might need a new one

I was at my cousin shop and he said that when he left the car in the shop where its warm than the problem happens to go away..
He suggested that its a bad key and should be replaced.
Do I have to check any relays or fuses?
As for the battery, its fully charged and no malfuctions on the dash
