Question Acceleration Problem

What's up everyone. Can anyone tell me why all of a sudden I was driving this morning everything with my car was fine until I got on the highway and started to hit some rush hour traffic and everytime I would press the pedal to accelerate it would hesitate like 2 secs before I would actually accelerate? IF I were stopped it would take 2 secs and even if I were going 60mph and let off the gas and then press the pedal to accelerate again it still would take 2 secs then accelerate! THere is no wierd no noise or smell and it just came out the blue. Anyone have any ideas???

Sounds like your accelerator pedal module. See the last thread called "Acceleration Problem" for the DIY fix.

Just got in my car since this morning, the problem went away, would it come back? Or was it just acting up ?

If it comes back, especially when starting from a full stop, replace that part. Failures are very common. If it only happens at high speed, it could be other things like the MAF.

Failures , u mean like 1 time glitches? I had an appt.2morrow 4 the problem, but if the problem is not there they can't diagnose it. I'm hoping it was just a glitch. It happend at 0mph and 70!

If it happened at 0 mph it's almost certainly the pedal module. But if you read the thread I linked, this is very often misdiagnosed. When mine went, they changed the MAF and only then changed the the pedal assembly when the MAF didn't fix it. It was done on extended warranty, so I didn't care. But read that thread -- they always say it can't be the pedal but it always is. Assuming it is, it will fail again. Just wait.

Damnn problem came back! I called up the shop and told them that I think its the pedal module and they said it doesn't sound like it since the problem came and went and came back again. He also told me that there are codes that can tell him what's wrong even if the problem goes away by the time I bring it 2 him 2morrow. I know this sounds like the module from reading the previous thread, but any other strong possibilities and how much???????

The dealer will replace a bunch of things that they will say were "borderline," like the MAF before also replacing the pedal, which will fix your problem. Save yourself some grief and pop the part in. It takes 5 minutes and costs about $200. If it isn't the problem, it will be at some point soon.
