Please help. Center console is not working
I have a 2002 CL500
i figured since the S-Class shares the same chassis, etc. You guys might be able to help.
Story:
Back in July, my shifter locked up and i wasnt able to shift. So i had a shop put in a new shifter module. Now my shifter works, but my center console doesnt. My ABC, Climate, radio, navigation, etc doesnt work. any ideas on what just happened? thanks in advance.

Whoever repaired it really screwed it up, if the problem occurred right after they "fixed" it. If you can, take it back and have them troubleshoot it (if it happened in July - but having waited this long, you could have a problem). Most likely, they disconnected something (possibly a fiber optics connector for the phone, or even behind your COMAND).
Alternatively, take it to your dealer and have then run a STAR diagnosis. My bet is still on a fiber optic disconnection.

Thanks Skylaw, i just read your other post on how to remove the command. should i follow those steps to find if the fiberoptic has been removed? i went to the dealer today, and they said they could run a star diagnosis for 125. but it could run from 125-2000. i guess my question would be, if i run the STAR diagnosis, and if it is only the fiberoptic replacement, will it show up?

You could do some of your own troubleshooting regarding connectors. See the phone bulletin for your car at http://home.earthlink.net/~phdwebsit..._bulletins.htm to determine the locations of much of the electronics on your fiber optic system. Check those connectors you can get to.
You might also check your fuses, in accordance with the fuse diagram that should have been supplied with your car.
And one more suggestion (I don't mean to be insulting, but this has happened to more than one person) - is the power switch to your COMAND and to the COMAND display on? They are separate.
If there is a break in the fiber optic loop, STAR diagnosis will detect it.
The problem goes beyond just COMAND, however - involving ABC and climate control. That suggests a power problem; and possibly a SAM or other electronic component that I'm not familiar with. The STAR diagnostics should help there as well.
