Got a call from the salesman who I buy all my american cars from said he just picked up a 2002 S500 black on black 49,xxx miles. Over the phone he said he could sell it for $23,500 seems decent to me. I can most likely hack them down a bit more, but what do you guys think about it? Also what are some things I should look out for when buying a car like this? Thanks!

thats about the same thing I paid for mine with 45,000 miles on it, although you can find one alot cheaper(4 to 5000$) with higher mileage if that doesn't bother you. Airmatic suspension seems to be the most prevalent issue with these cars, but at that mileage I dont think you would really have to worry about that service yet. Just have it checked out and try and get some kind of warranty with it would be my suggestion. I purchased a extended warranty for 36,000 miles for only 1600$. Although I probably wont need it, I figured it was better to shell out an extra 1600 now than 3 to 4000 later. Good luck, its a great car, like nothing Ive ever driven before

thats a good price i picked mine up for 22500 and it has 15k more than that in miles. I would pick an extended warranty just in case some of the gremlins with this car comes up. I do have to agree they are very nice rides.

Also, IMO it looks better on lighter color cars. If the car is black, it's hard to tell at a glance whether an older s-class has sport or not.
