Corrosion in engine bay

Hey guys i'm a newbie here in the forums and i need some advice. I just bought a 04' S430 from Illinois and it has a good bit of light corrosion visible on the block (white splotches). Can I just pressure wash the motor with water to get this off or is there a special chemical i should use? Also there is light rust on the engines' pulleys, am I pretty much stuck with that?

If you pressure wash your engine bay, you stand a chance of getting electrical problem as the high pressure steam will get into your wires and cause shortages. Engine bay is was with engine cleaner/degreaser and very low pressure water.
