2005 S430 Command Unlock

Has anyone been able to get into the engineering menu for a 2005 S430?

I have the widescreen command system and I can play dvds.

I am trying to unlock it so it displays the video when the car is moving.

Have tried holding down:

MUTE+SERVICE+Phone (End Call)
MUTE+Phone (End Call)+SERVICE

No luck so far...

One document says to hold it for around 5 secs, the other document says 45 secs. Still no luck!

Any ideas?

thanks

A minimal effort in searching here or in the Audio and Electronics forum would have told you that only the Euro spec COMANDs can display DVD video, and the "unlock" feature allows it to be displayed in motion. U.S. specification COMANDs cannot display DVD video at all.

You should complete your profile so that responders know whether we are dealing with a U.S., European, or Asian specification car. It makes a difference.

It is an Australian delivered 2005 S430L.

I can currently play DVD video only while the car is stationary.

So maybe its the EURO spec command... How do you tell?

thanks

Using: MUTE+1+3+9

I can now access some sort of engineering menu (but it does not say 'welcome to engineering mode')

I think it maybe a new engineering mode for 2005 cars. It displays

- Info on software and hardware
- MOST
- Devices
- Diagnositcs
- Exit

This seems to be similar to the pictures of the engineering menu I have seen

But I can't seem to get the hidden menus to appear.

Have tried using: *#< and #*<

But still no luck....

Hi Sky.

For W220/C215/R230 there was NEVER a unlock feature from service menu available. This fairytale came from some early units which were installed in w211 R171 etc which look very simillar.

But i bet this topic will always come up again because people like the idea of secret menus and hidden features ;-)

Cheers, Frank.

Your unit is the Euro Version if it has a TV button instead of the SAT button.
If it is a EURO Model. this unit should work for you.
