Navigation update won't load

A friend has a 2003 S500 that he has bought update navigation CD's (dated 1/07) on EBAY. They look original but when inserted into the comand unit, the unit does not recognize them. Is there a software update that needs to be done before using the latest update cds? Has anyone had this problem and been able to solve it? Thanks for your responses.

Noo.. I think you have the wrong CD's.. Unlike the DVD's not all Cd's are compatible between models.. IF you don't see a pic of an S-class on the over, then more than likely you have the wrong CD set.

The CDs have the correct part no. - bq 6 46 0222 which from what i have been able to research on this and other sites is the correct part no for the 1/07 update for a 2003 S class. Early 2000 S classes would use a different part no. but late 2000 thru 2003 should be the same. Anybody have any other suggestions? Thanks

sounds like unauthorized copies to me. Return them and get your money back, or threaten the seller to go to court.
How much cheaper were the CD's, compared to the MB dealer's price?

It wasn't so much the price but the ability to buy only 2 of the total of 9 or 10 discs that exist. Still trying to work it out with the seller. Thanks
