This is in my toolkit in my trunk... any ideas what it is?

Its a centering pin for changing your tire to a spare. It allows you to line the lugs holes on the wheel up with the holes in the hub.

Cars with studs dont have this issue but MB uses lugs instead of studs.

You screw it into a lug hole in hte hub and then place the wheel on the hub. Once the wheel is on the car you remove the pin and install the lugs in a star pattern.

Not to be a smart *** but this is all in the manual. If do not have the manual go to mbusa.com and register for owner online, its free, and you can download a pdf file of the owners manual which is searchable.

Not a problem, yeah I'm sure its in the manual, I just never got the chance reading it until I saw this post. I would of have the same question about the pin if I hadn't read this topic.
