Mine is nice and toasty!
Check to make sure your rear controls are not set at 60 degrees w/ the fan up (that will lead to a cold interior!).
The car should warm up nicely after about 5 minutes in the winter.....

My 01 S500 takes a while to warm up too. It never blow really hot air like cheaper cars can. it eventually feels evenly toasty all around. Living in AZ, I am worried that the A/C may not be suited for that kind of heat where I'll frostbite inducing air blowing directly on me.

My S500 is in for that issue right now. Air temp is too cool on very cold days. Dealer is replacing upper air sensor, it was out of tolerance. Said this is a common problem on the W220 S class.

My '03 S600 had an issue at idle with blowing cold air when the thermostat was clearly working properly and the temp controls were all in the mid 70's. It turns out that the V-12 cars water pumps do not flow water very well at idle and the climate control defaults to cold air due to the poor water flow. There is an aux pump that kicks in at idle only and this was faulty in my car. If I blipped the throttle slightly when the aux pump was faulty the car would instantly blow hot air like it was supposed to blow. Hope this helps. Thank goodness this happened when my car was still covered by the factory warranty as I believe the bill was nearly 1K.

After many years, I still have some climate control sqwauks. One that they still have yet to diagnose is why every once in a while with everything set to auto and 72, temp holding just fine for a long period of time, the car goes into "rapid cool-down." The fan slow ramps up to full blast and the air temperature is as frigid as can be.

If the engine temp. does not go upto 80°C and slightly above within a short time of driving it needs to be swapped. If this is ok, then plenty other options are there why it's not getting cosy and warm.
