Great experience w/Sunil at Motorwerks, Speedtuning
Just wanted to relay a great experience with Sunil at Motorwerks. I bought a 2003 S600 recently, and had him check the car out and do the catch-up maintenance (svc B + all fluids) top to bottom as well as a couple of other services.
I got a recommendation from this board, and was really impressed with his knowledge of the S600 specifically. He knew how each feature worked (and didn't work
as well as common failure points, etc that I would never have picked up on.Some of the work -
he connected me with a local seller for some AMG wheels, installed them, and even shipped my stock wheels off to the buyer when I sold them...
hardwired a V1 detector...
installed a video in motion system, to allow playing dvd's, mp3s, divx through the STOCK Comand unit (Yeah!)...
installed new ECU from SpeedtuningUSA. Dramatic increase in power...no CEL or other issues...great product...
As he just opened his new shop in Houston, it has been fun watching all the new high-line cars come in...in one week you may see Ferraris, Porches, and the random 700+ HP E55, etc. Just a class operation.
Sunil sent out the comand system to have the blank button (is TV or SAT on some versions, but if its blank this will work) modified to accept a video in ("AV IN").
Then I bought a dvd/mp3/divx player over the internet which he hooked up to it below the glove box. Cannot be seen at all, is very 'stealth'. Uses wireless remote for track selection etc.
The thing i liked is that all video comes thru the command unit, stock appearance, can use volume controls on steering wheel etc.
I went through a number of scenarios with Sunil, including removing the whole comand unit and replacing with a Pioneer AVIC D3 (cant remember exact model name)...would have required more fabrication and loss of other command functions...
Depending on year of your car your options may be more/less limited...Aaron
Im gonna stop by my local shop to get a price quote on something like. I like the idea of having a stock look but still be able to play movies.
