2001 S500 Oil leak

My 2001 S500 has a slight oil leak. I have just had the valve cover gaskets changed but there still continues to be a slight leak.

If you are facing the front of the car, the leak seems to be toward the back middle of the engine. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on what it could be?

Thanks
EC

How long ago did you have the valve cover gaskets changed? Was it leaking prior to this?

yes, there was an oil leak prior to the changes. this is what prompted the mechanic to check the valve cover gaskets. they were changed about a week ago. there is less oil leaking, but i still see small drops. i wonder if it could be the oil pan?

This is a very common problem with these cars. Engine and tranny are notorious to leak. Power steering fluid also leaks from time to time. You may have stopped the engine leak but are now facing a tranny leak. the best way to figure this out is to lift the car and remove the plastic skid plates from the bottom in order to inspect the location of the leak.
