Air Matic or ABC suspension

Hello all,

I have a 2000 S500 witht he AMG Sport Package.

How can you tell if you have the air matic suspension or the ABC suspension.

I have the button on the dash to raise and lower the car. I noticed that some W220s have different buttons. Some has 2 settings and others have 3 settings. My button only has 1 light on the button so I'm thinking that I have the 2 setting type.

Does that mean I have the ABC suspension?

Also, I noticed that the left rear of my car sits lower than the other 3 corners. When I push the button on the dash to raise it, I see that it does go up, but still not the same height as the other 3 corners.

Does anyone know what the problem could be? If so, how much will it cost to fix?

Thanks for all your help guys.

Raising button with one light means Airmatic. Raising button with two lights means ABC. ABC cars also have a button labeled "ABC SPORT" with one light.

It sounds like you have a bad valve, strut or leaking strut seal. You should have it taken care of quickly because if it's a seal the excess operation will blow your Airmatic pump.

When did ABC first become available in the US, and on what models?

Also, does someone know the option code?

On the W220, ABC was available from 2001 in the US. It was standard on all US CLs, 600s and S55s/S65s as well as latest generation SLs. As far as I know it was an orderable option on all other 8-cylinder rear-wheel drive W220s. ABC is code 487.
