Recommend a Car Carrier?
I will be working for a client (eBay) in San Jose, CA for the next 6 months. I need to transport my 2002 S430 from CT to CA. Can anyone suggest a specific car transport or carrier that they have used before and feel comfortable recommending?
Thanks
Mark

Well a few years ago I had my S500 shipped from Texas to Maine by DAS and when it got there it the spare tire was on the car. They ended up slicing open one of the brand new tires during either the loading or unloading. I was pissed! They did end up paying for a new tire but that was besides the point. So I would not reccomend DAS myself.

After you read the horror stories by every Auto Company.
For Example , Your Car arrives totalled or you dont see your car for like 30-50 days lol.
They promose your car to leave on a certain date but it will saty in dock for just 15 days.
You will not want to SHIP it and you'd rather drive it yourself

Soo much gloom and doom on this site... You have to wonder how zillions of dollars in automotive inventory makes its way across our country every week unscathed....
Actually a place to start would be Ebay motors, or your local dealer.... there are a lot of Good shippers everywhere.. you just have to call them and ask what they guarantee.. last time i checked, it costs about 1000.00 to ship a car from Ca. to Tx. I don;t know what the rates are these days but you can get it there safe no problem.. Ask your local dealer who ships for them or ask the dealer in San Jose who they use for cross country shipping.. They do it all the time..

you might wanna check craigslist or other forums as well. Sometimes there are people who ship cars across the country and go back empty maybe you can jump on that and split the shipping cost and bring it back in a private enclosed trailer?

I shipped a car overseas; it arrived with most of the items in the trunk stolen. Spare tire, tools, everything.
Someone tried to break into it while it was overseas, damaging the trunk and the hood. I had the whole car re-painted and clear-coated while there. When it was shipped back 6 weeks after it was painted, the shipper dropped a huge swedge ball (from a crane) onto the hood, smashing it. Replaced hood, had the entire car repainted again.
Just 6 years ago, my wife shipped her Lincoln Town Car from California to Maryland. The carrier overturned enroute - her car was badly damaged.
What you say is true - lots of stuff is shipped without incident. But for me, 3 out of 3 means I must be snake-bit in the car shipping department.
