It is a great drive train that is robust and takes very well to tuning.

Having said that, one of my SL55 guys just dyno'd at 585 hp/620 lb ft, and ran an 11.3 qtr! That is no slouch either!

For as long as I can remember, I have been a die hard Ferrari guy, but these MB/AMG cars have definitely opened some new doors for me.

S600/CL600 is some way cheap power now that the prices have dropped they are less than $40K for the 2003/4 model...the 55 amg's have held their value quite a bit better (or worse..if you are trying to buy one used

also...you have to put in over $25K into the 55 modding to get (less than) the bang-for-buck factor that the 600 gives you for less than $5K. Just my $0.02...[insert 'codgerly' non-amg flame here ]

For some reason the heavier S/CL 600's seem to get slightly better track results than the SL. Have seen lots of theories that the heavier car produces less traction but not sure if that is proven or 'butt dyno' talking.

Im willing to bet its the wider wheelbase.. Better weight transfer which equals better traction

i think if you put some wider tires on it would make better time if you start adding horsepower, but what your running now and you say you have no loss in traction i would say to keep those tires cuz bigger tires do slow you down. keep us posted on your progress, very interested
