Hi, I'm a newbie... S500 hissing sound

Hi my fellow MB S-riders...

I have an 2005 S500 that has a hissing sound coming from underneath the driver seat. At first, I thought it was from the vent, but even after I turned off the engine, I can still hear the hissing sound. Underneath the driver seat, I can see a couple of tubes, sort of like gas-cannister about 4-5 inches long. Could the sound be coming from there, and what can cause it, and how to fix it?

Thank you.

Yes, after a few minutes, I haven't clocked it yet, but eventually it stopped.

Same thing when I first start the car, it would hiss and after a while it would stop. What does the Oxide kid do?

I just picked up this car last nite, and it's been on my driveway less than 24 hours. Love the car, but there's so much I don't know, and there's no manual in the glove compartment. Actually, there's a manual but it's for a CLK320... ???

Then there's the ding-ding sound with the flashing light right next to the far left vent on the dashboard. It would stop after I drive off. But it doesn't happen all the time. I'm guessing it's the front-rear parking sensor but don't know how to disable it.

Thanks for helping out.

NOS aka Nitrious Oxide , you know from Fast And Furious?

Maybe its you cars airmatic system lowering after you put it in park etc?
Wait for MY06CLK's or SkyLaws/ the rest of the S500 Gurus answer's , they prob have it .

It could be the Airmatic lowering itself. Not sure.

I'd suggest you buy a manual off of ebaymotors or download an online manual from mbusa.com owner's online.

It's the air pump. It's not under your front seat, but closer to the passenger side front bumper. Your car is under warrenty, if you have a concern take to the dealer.

Sounds to me like a lumbar inflator under the seat that injects the air to the seat itself.

That would be your parking sensors. They come in handy when parking in tight places and manuevering around things when backing out. I wouldn't disable it but I don't think you could anyway.
