Hi all. Just want to introduce myself. Looks like a great forum. Picked up my 2000 s 430 last week. All stock except for tints. Everything was fine until 2 days ago "Airmatic see Workshop" message came up. The car is leveled fine and the pump does not seem to be working more then it should. When I shut the car off and then start it, the message went away until this morning. I really don't want to take it to the stealeship. Any advise would be appriciated. Attached are some pictures. Sorry for the bad quality used my phone to take them. Thanks

You have to insepct the car before you buy it.

Its probably a leak in the frotn struts $600 for the kit.

Go to an Independent Mercedes Mechanic to check out your car.

ditto what gondon said. If you take it to a stealership it would probably be around $1300.

The upper strut seal replacement on my (out of warranty) '00 was $550 including labor. A full strut replacement may run around $1300 per strut.

I fully agree that a qualified MB tech should see it - whether at a dealership or a good independent.

How am I arrogant?

You have 100% Front Sturt leak, I had the same exact symptoms you've had. I know what Im talking about. I had my front struts sealed as well.

We know what were talking about here.
If you cant take advice without getting your feelings hurts, go to the dealership and ask them.

I said that the message comes on when it rains. For the past 3 days that it is dry in NY there are no error messages. So I doubt it is the strut leak, other wise it would be leaking all the time. I suspect it could be some connections that are getting wet and asked for advise. You are too fast to jump to conclusions. I am mechanicly inclined (build 5 custom Harleys) so when something does not make sense I question it.

If i only happens when it is wet ( raining ), then that just means that there is water getting into one of your transducers in the wheels and sending a bad signal.. OR the plug has lost its sealant.. Either way just check yu front wheel wells you will see a little link tht is attached to a small square box with a wire harness plugged into it. make sure the connector is dry and the connections can not get wet.

This is a shot, but it is the only sensible thing that corresponds to what you are saying about your issue.

Water can be evil........

Well i had that prob once, got the same error message, but it wasnt raining, and at the same time, i had an ESP error msg and and airbag error msg.

Happened only once and never again, except for the airbag.

Got to an official MB dealer, they put the computer in it, left door airbag was actualy "broke" and they changed it, but for the rest, they seen the error, but nothing was wrong, it seems.
Of course the airmatic seems to work just fine to my eyes.

Im going for a "B" maintenance next week and they check airmatic in it so maybe i will know a bit more, or not..

Anyway, you should go to a specialist, just to be sure.
