Sunroof Stuck Open!!!

Ok, so i'm driving down I-40 with the Sunroof in the open position. I press the button for the sunroof to close and it moves slightly, then stops and goes back to the open position. I press the button several more times and it does the same thing. I break down and take it to the dealer because its about to rain. By this time it is 5:58, service closes at 6. They pop the light out and push in the manual close tool and close the window. The tech suggested it could be in the switch ($300-$400) or its the sensors in the glass that has gone bad in which case you have to replace the whole glass ($700) HAS anyone had this problem????

2008 E350
I had the same problem several times on my former C240. I used to have to stop the car and "help" the sunroof by pulling it forward as I pushed the switch.

Try looking in your manual for the procedure for resynching the sunroof. Or search the forums for how to resynch the sunroof on your model. On the C240 it had to do with holding the switch in the downward (or forward) position (I can't remember). I just checked the manual for my E350 and the procedure is there. The procedure may be different for your car. You don't say what year it is.

Hope this helps.

thats a lie! you just have to reset the sunroof, you open the window all the way hold it for 5 secs then close it and hold it for 5 secs, then pop it up and hold it for five secs and you should be ok it happened to me/

Next time your sunroof stays open, just turn engine off, step out and close driver door, hold the lock button on you key and wait until it closes the roof for you.
