It Finally Happened…airmatic collapsed

As I was driving along an empty road, made a right turn then heard a ‘BANG’ but didn’t see anything happen. So I forgot about it and accelerated upto 80km/h then suddenly I got this big red message on my screen

So I pull over immediately and step out of the car and see my nightmare came true. The front end slammed to the ground (both sides).

I was so surprised I just got the new seal kit for the strut tower and the new hella relay but this still happens. I did notice a loud sound when the compressor was working couple days ago should of paid more attention to that so let this be a warning to everyone. Check your compressor if it's working properly.

Got the on a flat bed and towed home, nice and safe in the garage now. Will deal with his whole mess tomorrow morning. Now I don’t have a car to drive to work.

I pressed the button to raise the car but nothing is happening. I think I need to replace the compressor?

hope you can get this resolved quickly and get back on the road.

Sorry to hear that bud

But when you say : "I did notice a loud sound when the compressor was working couple days ago should of paid more attention to that so let this be a warning to everyone. Check your compressor if it's working properly.
"

What is a "loud sound" is it realy loud or ? because i can often hear my compressor working when i start the car for exemple but its not too noizy...i think

update: the compressor works because it's still lifting the car from the rear when I press the raise button and it's raising it at the front right too almost at the normal ride height and it's trying to raise the front left but all I hear is this big hisssing sound.
This is weird because the strut that's failing to pressurize is the same strut I had the dealership install the new seal-kit.

musty: It's the sound of the compressor running, it's sort of noise but not that loud sounds like a drilling/jack hammer noise but obviously not that loud.

That's quality workmanship at its best.....It's hard to find good help these days... When you take it back, make sure you let them know.. Someone did something wrong when they put in the kit I'l bet. That's too bad..

I forgot to update... the PUMP was okay, It was only the DRIVERS SIDE STRUT that went bad needed to be replaced. 3500$ warranty thank god for warranty.

This was the dealers fault when IT started with a little crack I noticed on the strut (same strut driver’s side). SO I had the dealer install the new seal kit but they installed the old seal kit and didn't do it properly and after a week BOOM this happened. So if you guys see little cracks developing on top of the strut tower I'm sorry to say you're screwed.

currently at 48,000 miles

I saw you reply to the 'lowering with washers' thread. Out of curiosity -- did you lower your car with washers? If so, did the dealer mechanics notice?

Thanks!

So do you think the washers, or lowered ride height, led to premature failure of the strut? Not sure what year you have or how the roads are in your area, but 48k miles seems premature IMO. Just curious...Thanks!
