I got a 03 W220, according to manual:
To open all the windows and roof:
press unlock at the smart key to unlock the door and then press unlock at the smart ket again and keep press and the window and roof will open untill you stop.

To close all the window and roof:
press lock at the smart key to lock the door and then press the lock at the smart ket again and keep press and the window and roof will close untill you stop.

But I try it a few time, no response at all, did I miss somthing, or I need to do some set up ?? thanks

When I press the lock or unlock on the smartkey, I need to point at the front driver side door handle's. thats all I have to do !!

Yup. The window feature is infrared, and the key must be "seen" line-of-sight by the IR receiver in the door handle. The door locks are radio frequency operated, and do not have this restriction.

It's just the basic battery powered portion of the key to your car - with open close, and trunk unlock buttons.

Sounds like the dealer has to code it in the computer to make the new key infrared functions work. Have you tried a new battery though?

The most common reason for this not working is the IR sensor failing. I've had them/it (the passenger door had it as well in older models) replaced in every car that I've owned with this feature. My 2006 S65 just got a new IR sensor last month. There's no way to turn it off through programming.

My 01 C320 would open windows across the entire parking lot even though it was IR as well, i always found it to be surprising.
My 99 Lexus GS doesn't have to be pointed at the car at all and it would open them as long as you are within range.

I don't know about the '01 C, but if it worked across an entire parking lot it wasn't IR. It sounds like it and the Lexus used RF for that function.

Mercedes added a separate IR circuit for this function as a safety feature. It would have been much cheaper and more reliable to use the same RF system that works the other Smartkey remote functions. They consider any moving part something that must be attended. They wouldn't want a bystander or child in the car, for instance, to get a finger pinched in a window that's closing. They want to make certain the operator is right there when windows and sunroofs slide. You might view it as an annoyance, but it's really another example of MB going to additional expense for safety's sake.

Maybe so, however, it really would render the option usless. If i'm unable to open my windows from across the parking lot to cool it down just a bit before i get to it... what good is it going to do me if i can open it only a few feet away?
Just my though....

I most often use it when I park on hot days, to open the windows and sunroof a crack. Works fine and the car is a lot cooler when I get back. I also like that it turns on the seat fans when I return.

BTW, however much you've lowered the windows and sunroof this way, pressing and holding the recirc button closes them all after you've gotten driving a bit. Nice shortcut that some people miss.

Perhaps it won't injure the hands of a family member if you to close it that way, too.

Mine opens from about 12 to 15 feet away; good enough to let the initial rush of hot air out and at least start cooling the car before entering. Much better than just opening one door and getting into a superheated car, then opening windows.

Silly question. If the battery on the smart key is low it won't work the IR sensor?
