I recently purchased a S600 from a private seller. A one owner car with
lowish miles. There was a vibration when cold so I asked the seller to
have a main dealer muti point check with a request to look at the vibration.
The car was given a clean bill of health, so I bought it.
3 weeks and a couple of hundred miles later my dealer said it required a new
gear box costing 6 grand. Mercedes kindly paid half but I was left with a
bill of 3 grand. I wrote to the dealer who checked it, he said it was alright on the day even though they could feel the vibration,in fact they said " they all do this " . They offered to give a discount but it was all to late. I think the
gearbox should have been fixed f.o.c. , when you consider a 95k car 4 years
old with less than50k on the clock, the gearbox must have been faulty ,but
10 months out of warranty. I have 3 other Mercs, and will tell some home truths.
