Planning to buy a 2002 S430
I'm thinking of buying a 2002 S430. Here is a link to the car:

my main concerns are since its a V8, its gonna burn a whole in my pocket for gas, and is the 123,000 km on the car going to cost me a lot of maintenance in the future. I appreciate any help or guidance towards my purchase.

It's not maintenance that will kill you, it's repair costs. Owning a W220 with no warranty is a huge gamble. The chances are very good that something will break in the $3-5,000 range within two years. $1,000 repairs are very common. As long as you're ready for that, go for it.

With the high mileage, you will not be able to get any extended warranty. Keep cash set aside to cover the worst case, heavy-duty items like Airmatic strut replacement ($1600 U.S. or so each, replaced in pairs; often requiring replacement of the Airmatic pump if they go, $900 U.S.).

also you might as well spend a little bit more money and go for a 2003 model, they have much better navigation and i heard their air suspension is better.

wise choice. I looked for a W220 for about 4 months before I found something that I couldn't pass up on. I got ancy a couple of times and almost about 100k+ mileage car because I was having trouble getting financed along with getting my current vehicle loan paid off.
It all worked out in the end. Did everything the right way, had the car independently inspected and everything worked out.
Good luck
