Niggling W220 S320 faults... Folding mirrors, Lumbar and locking

Hi,
After years of Saab''s I''ve taken the plunge and bought my first MB a 2000 S320 CDI with a genuine 54K on the clock and quite pleased I am too however, it seems to have 3 strange little habits that I cannot seem to get around. Naturally I have followed the manual to the letter and have also tried resetting to factory but to no avail:

1, I cannot get the door mirrors to fold closed when locking my the remote key fob even though this option is picked from the settings menu.

2, Regardless of the settings picked for easy entry the steering wheel adjusts up and down when the electronic key is removed.

3, If I leave the vehicle unlocked no key in the ignition after a few minutes it locks all 4 doors even though I have automatic locking unchecked (which I thought only deployed after 10 mph)

4, The lumbar support doesn't seem to operate in either front seats - I presume there is a pump somewhere, relays and fuses?

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated and of course I''d be obliged to leave feedback once I get this niggles resolved.

Many thx in advance for your consideraton.

B.

1. The 2000 did not have autofold mirrors. It's most likely on your menu because the instrument cluster has been replaced (there was a recall and 10-year warranty extension due to a batch of bad boards) with a later version and the dealer didn't version-code the cluster to remove the option from the menu. You can confirm whether your mirrors can support autofold by manually folding them with the door button. If a single touch folds or opens all the way you have autofold mirrors. If you have to hold the button or the mirror stops folding, you have the older kind.
2. I think this was also an option added later. The other explanation is that the seats only move back if they are fairly forward to begin with. There is a certain distance that the system considers far enough for easy exit. Taller drivers will only see the steering wheel move. You can test this by reprogramming the seat way up and then removing the key. If it still doesn't move, it's your later cluster lying about the option again.

I just checked my manual from my 2001 S55. Car is gone, but the manual is still online. Only the wheel moves.
3.The only time it's supposed to do this is if you unlock the car with the remote and don't actually open a door. For security it will relock. If you are in the car, remove the key, exit, close a door and don't lock the car it should not lock itself. Are you sure you're not talking about the unlock-and-don't-enter situation?
There's another mode that may affect this, although I don't think so. Each key can operate in "unlock all with one press" (guy's mode) or "only unlock the driver's door with one click and unlock all doors with two clicks" (security-conscious person's mode). The mode is toggled by holding down the close and open buttons on the key for about 5 seconds, until the red light flashes. Since each key is set independently (in case there are drivers of both type), it can't be set on the instrument cluster.
4.Most likely the pump -- in the trunk
5.Best of luck with the new car!

By the way, these answers are for a US car. Other markets may have differences.

WHOOVER thanks for your input.

All this would make sense now.

Indeed the instrument cluster was replaced and not on the recall as I have £1000 receipt documenting this.

The folding mirrors need to have the button pushed constantly not one touch so I'll presume autofold is not fitted.

Indeed you are correct also about the self locking. I realise now that I was sitting in the car when it was autolocking - reading the manuals etc. without opening a door.

The seat moving on easy exit remains a mystery - but I'm not fussed I was just a bit concerned as I thought maybe an ecu that was common to the autofolding was a bit wonky as both functions are in the same menu on the cluster. It's more than likely as you say, the later cluster fitted never had the options removed.

So it looks like my only real bug bear is the Lumbar support!

Hardly the end of the world.

Thanks again for your help.

Had problem with my lumbar support, can you hear hiss of air when, first getting into and starting the car?

This is what happened to mine, turns out air hose unneath passenger seat broke, simple job to fix.
But it could be the air pump, heard these can wear out?
