question about options

Whats the W/S stand for on the 00 s430 shifter - i noticed they changed the letters on the newer model MB's

simple question - simple answer please.

Winter/Summer or Winter/Sport.....W starts the car in second gear for snow/ice/slick weather to eliminate wheel spin.

W is for wet/winter starting the tranny out in 2second gear for more grip and S is standard or summer starts in 1st gear

And just a note, even in W, the car will accelerate in 1st gear when the throttle is quickly floored.
