Curses... W220 Roof Leak Strikes Again
Okay folks,
I've had some problems with my S500 over time, but for the most part I've been happy with it. Over the last few months however, it has become apparent that the roof is leaking somewhere. None of the liner is wet, but after the car has sat in rain for several hours, water will drip out of the passenger's side, rear vanity mirror mount on the ceiling. Just a drop every now and then, enough to make you think the water might have come from the rear door being opened (at first). When the car is moving, the water does not leak. I know there has been some discussion of all this before, can someone tell me:
At 80,000 miles, will MB cover this as a warranty issue? Under rust coverage? If not, what have people done to stop the leaks?
As always, thanks very much for the information!

sunroof drains clogged??
I have the same problm on my 02 S500. I spoke with a mechanic from a small independent shop ( the kind of place where they actually repair cars not just replace parts). He asked if I had the windshield replaced which i have. He suggested i go to a body shop to see if the sunroof drains in the windshield seal were clogged by excess glue during the replacement. Does anyone know where in the windshield those drains are or what they look like.

Had the same problem, there were a couple of drops of water coming through rear vanity. Open sunroof all the way and look inside (between roof and interior) with a flashlight. Look at the forward 2 corners, above the drain holes/lines. Mine was rusty above the water drains. I could only see a little, but the frame was shot(must have had holes in it). If your sunroof frame is rusted, you will need a new sunroof frame.
This is alot of $ to replace. It fixed my leak. Dealer gave me 1/2 off the repair (goodwill), still came to over $1600.00!
IMAO this is a dealer defect, and will eventually occur in most W220's MY 00-02.
