L. Turn Sig. Reflectr ... Check Lamp (W220 post-facelift 2003)

Hello all,

I managed to clip my mirror backward while driving forward at walking pace when parking.

Now I have the "L. Turn Sig. Reflectr ... Check Lamp" warning intermediately. The whole

strip of LED will stop working but with I switch off the engine and then fold and unfold the

mirrors, it would work again.

It seems like to me a lose connection somewhere. I tried to search for removal of mirror

housing but all the threads relate to the pre-facelift model.

Can anyone help on how I can dismantle the mirror and which connectors to check please?

Thank you very much in advance.

Kind regards,
Garrison

Answered in your other post, but for the benefit of forum members here: https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w220/115757-2000-2002-s500-side-mirror-led-light-upgrade-before-after-picts.html tells and shows you how.

I had the same issue, and from what I was told...........retrofitting the updated lights would take care of any burned out LCD's that are throwing the error.
Just havent' gotten around to it yet. There is a DIY sticky on replacing them here on the this board

trudawg,

You were probably typing as I was sending - but the link I gave is in fact for updating the LEDs - which of course, uses the same steps needed by the OP to check his connections.

Thanks for all your replies. I looked at the link before but step 2 does not seem to exist for my car.

"2. Stick thin long flathead screw driver underneath mirror(torwards front) and pry clip up so Mirror Cover housing slides off.(be careful)"

Since I have already got the facelifted model and hence I am not upgrading, does the same procedures apply?

Many thanks, Garrison

Problem solved. There is a brass clip on the outer top corner which you push in with a small flat-blade screwdrive and slide the housing out. Very similar to the current model ML. The LED indicator comes with the down-lighter.
