When activated the methanol acts as a cooling agent in the combustion chamber of the engine thereby reducing detonation and allowing you run more boost..

In other words.. When you hit the switch you go from 93 octane to 117 octane.. Its the latest thing for all the "street" cars.

what kind of tuning would need to be done for this?

or is it just a simple install and your good to go??


also what kind of fluid is used for the injection??

You can use anything from pure methanol (not adviseable) to windshield washer fluid (contains alcohol in it) Would it be a good upgrade? Well it WILL require tuning as there is no point in putting the methanol injection and not bumping the boost up.. You can also raise the timing and do all sorts of funky things that you normally cannot do on pump gas that you can with leaded fuel.. I know people who make over 100rwhp more when they run their methanol injection and turn the wick up.. Just gotta be careful the alcohol does not run out or else your engine can go poof in a matter of seconds..


The install is about as easy as installing nitrous in a car.. Its basically the same concept.. Put the bottle where you want it.. Run the lines and solenoid to the engine bay and figure out where you wanna put the nozzles in the intake..

Notice how i keep saying boost.. If you have a non-forced induction car dont waste your time with it.
