Driving in Snow

Guys needed some help. My S430 has traction problems when I drive in the snow. Does mercedes have an automatic traction control or am I suppose to keep the car in winter "w" mode when driving in the snow? Thanks

It does have ESP which you can turn off.

Yes, keep in W mode. Also, keep ESP on....this is seperate from ASR traction control. If you run into a lot of snow.....best to invest in a good set of snow tires which are light years more advanced than what they used to be.

Just for your reference, you'll know your traction control is working when you see the yellow triangle w/ the exlamation sign "!" light up.

Have fun w/ yesterdays snow? I sure did! Nothing like doing donuts in a parking lot w/ traction control turned off

Actually, you can't turn ASR traction control off. The ! sign is the ESP system engaging. Could be wrong but I think that's the way my S600 works (same as S430). Also, all that W mode does is start you off in second gear.
