Replacing Rear Strut

Hello all,

I need to replace the right rear strut on my 2000 S500. Has anyone tried doing this themselves? Is it hard to do or is there any special tools you will need?

If anyone has done this before, would you happen to have a step by step guide on how to do this?

Thanks

Think I remember you from the Legend forums...didn't you have a red coupe in the Bronx? I wanted your GS rims

Anyway, from what I've read it's not a DIY. Special tools required. There's a shop out in LI that may be worth checking out and there's a shop in downtown Manhattan, but I've read they're not as up to speed on the newer models. Good luck!

No tools more special than most home mechanics have. Here's a video from Arnott, it's pretty good:

Masood has great videos of MB maintenance actions, too. In this case, it's jack stands instead of a lift:

I have been googling the bejesus out of the same procedure (granted, on an E Wagon). I have seen so many videos and what not....have yet to see a reason why a diligent "Shade Tree Mechanic" can not replace the struts. Well, but for tales of compressing one if they are extened. For me, looking at Bilstien (sp?) for the rears. I already did my own airbags a year or so ago.
