Question Clinking noise & burning smell coming when car is switched off

There is a strange clicking noise when the car is switched off. The entire car shakes… After 5 minutes I took the battery cable out & the noise stop. The noise is coming from the right front side of the car. When I start the car the noise goes away after 5 to 10 sec… Any suggestions?

could be a jacked up airmatic pump as thats under the front bumper up there.

That said, its hard to diagnose over the internet. You need to pinpoint the noise location.

I agree , check that first as you first start your car the pump works to readjust each corner of the car . If is no good it usually makes noise .

well, mine makes some noise that can be heard from the outside the car, not inside and doesn't seem to be broken.

That said, its a very smooth humming noise and not clicking or anything.

I finally connected the battery, the noise is gone but now I have a message that the airmatic is not working & the car does not go up or down. The doors works fine... also ABS light is now on. Is the airmatic pump an easy fix? Can I purchase it & have a local mechnic replace it or do I have to take the car to the dealer$hip... Thanks

really the chioce is yours if you have a "local mechanic" that knowledgeable about the airmatic system and you trust him with your car it could save you. if not i'd stick with a dealer. i am new here myself but i have found the there is a lot of knowledgeable people on this fourm who have very very detailed answers to your ? back click one out of this thread and click search forum type in airmatic and prepare to learn more than ever needed to know ps. there is prob nothing wrong with your abs and dont let anyone tell you different as far as i know it ties into the airmatic as soon as the airmatic is fixed abs should go back to normal. basically what in trying to say is dont let anyone B.s you on this cause they will if they can good luck

Thank you all for the input, like Oliverk suggested the pump was bad, I call the dealer for an appointment but nothing was available for 2 more weeks & they suggested that I can drive the car, but reading the other posts I could have damage teh shocks... so I took it to a local mechanic. He is replacing teh pump, pipe & a relay. Thanks
