A Mercedes obviously!
I'd just try and get one with it already on the vehicle. I think of the W220 the S600 purchasers are less likely to be bothered about the cost of the options so just add them regardless.

German vehicles stink, will never buy again. Moved on to Toyota and BYD.
Fraser: I read that on a few other posts on here.... I can only verify that my nonsport model goes to 130 mph (which I hit relatively often). I plan on getting the Kleemann ECU/TCU upgrade in the summer time to remove it.

I know the 2003 had one feature my 2005 doesn't... in 2003 you could scroll radio presets from the steering wheel. For some reason they took that out in 2005.
Also, there is supposed to be a different cup holder in the 2003 as opposed to the 2005 (according to my service advisor).

I'm just trying to look for the best one. Right now it will have to be a 2003 or 2004. An '05 is too much.....With that said, will an '03 be good enough??Is it just as reliable as an '04? Besides the comand system being different (anything is an improvement from my car now) are there things I should be aware of?
How about the ABC suspension in the 03's as opposed to the 04's? They seem to fail a lot...do the 04s have less problems?

I think you've got to get an aftermarket warranty for these vehicles and make sure you get one that covers ABC (I'm sure others can provide information on which do and don't) then you can drive worry-free!
I have a 2005 with the Sports Package, my car used to hit the 130MPH limiter all day long. ECU tune = 186MPH top speed limiter!

Wow, never knew these were limited to 130mph. Was it just US based S600s or the US W220 range? Putting a 130mph limiter on these V12 TT is cruel!
I used to take my father's UK S500 up to 140mph quite a bit...
